For the 5th Consortium meeting of the ZECOS project the consortium met in the Town Hall of Morbach. 25 delegates represented the 11 European project partners.
On 18th November the scientific partners (Universities from Germany, Belgium and Ireland) as well as TÜV Rheinland (WP1) met in advance to finalize the future certification methodology of the ZECOS project.
During the following two days, all project partners presented the progress in their respective area of responsibility. Furthermore, difficulties in the implementation of the Material Flow Analysis or the application of different certification classifications, but also about successes in the field of public relations were discussed and experiences were exchanged.
Focus of the presentations from the participating communities were the progress reports of each investment (practical projects) and the implementation of the planned coaching programme for communities’ stakeholders. The external expert Piero Pelizzaro (Kyoto Club) introduced the EU-project “ZecoCO2 – Zero Emission Communities” (MED Programme) from Southwest Europe. The transferability for parts of this project to ZECOS was discussed by the delegates.
For the last day the Municipality of Morbach had organized an excursion to Morbach Energy Landscape, the innovative park for regenerative energies, and carried out a guided tour with the Consortium Partners. The participants visited wind turbines, different photovoltaic systems, a Biogas plant, a solar water purification plant, a wood pellet production, an exhibition for biomass ovens and wood-house-construction.
The common meals in a friendly atmosphere also contributed to the transnational exchange between the partners
